Arts in Ada is on a 1-Year Hiatus
About Ada Arts Council
The Ada Arts Council was established in 1992 by an enlightened group of 13 members of the Ada community. They included artists, business owners, public officials and others who shared a common interest as expressed in the Arts Council’s Articles of Incorporation – “to encourage participation in and the appreciation of the arts by the residents of Ada, Michigan and its environs.”
To that end, the Arts Council has engaged in a number of activities over the years. The most visible of these is the annual “Arts in Ada” festival, held annually in May in the heart of Ada Village on Bronson Street. Over 50 artists display and sell their work in a wide variety of media, and an outdoor stage features live music and dance performances.
The Arts Council has also hosted featured artist displays and receptions, photography exhibits and competitions, art classes and workshops, and annually awards a scholarship to a student in either the performing or visual arts at Grand Valley State University.
The Council is governed and administered by a volunteer Board of Directors, which may have up to 13 members. Beyond the 13 members we encourage artists and members of the community to get involved as either a participant or volunteer in our events and activities.
Having no paid staff, the work of the Council is entirely volunteer-driven by its Board members and others interested in making a contribution of their expertise and interest. The Ada Arts Council is a nonprofit group so community participation is key to our success. We believe Ada Michigan is a wonderful, cultural place to live and work and we are working very hard to nurture an atmosphere that encourages cultural growth. We depend on are people like you who have demonstrated an interest in the arts to commit to the community. You can make that commitment by joining us today.
